The Membership Intern will assist in recruiting, servicing, and mobilizing GI-Net's membership to actively participate in its Darfur-related programs. The intern will also assist in the consolidation of GI-Net's permanent constituency - a crucial element of GI-Net's long-term mission.
Major Responsibilities:
- Work on GI-Net's Ask The Candidates campaign which aims to make Darfur a priority in the presidential race
- Correspond with GI-Net members (e.g. sending support materials for their events, explaining our policy/legislative agenda)
- Assist in the writing of a bi-weekly newsletter and periodic action alerts
- Assist in the creation of membership informational materials
Helpful Experience:
- An excellent verbal and written command of English
- Excellent inter-personal communication skills
- Computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office, Internet applications) are essential
- Interest and experience in human rights advocacy desirable, particularly related to genocide and Darfur
- Well-organized, self-motivated, and reliable
