The Education Intern will be working with the Education Director and Education Associate to synthesize news on a number of armed conflicts around the world where civilians are being targeted by mass atrocities on a disproportionately large scale.
Major Responsibilities
- Drafting daily news memos that synthesize media reportings on areas of concern. The news memos will be used to draft the Genocide Monitor, a bi-weekly publication.
- Long-term research projects on various armed conflicts where civilians are being targeted on a disproportionately large scale
- Coordinating speaking engagements from requests that GI-Net gets from members
- Editing and updating content for GI-Net’s Education website
- Editing memoranda and documents that the Education Associate produces
Helpful Experience
- Strong interest in reading, learning, and writing about cases of genocide and armed conflicts where civilians are being targeted by mass atrocities
- A working knowledge of the situation in Darfur and its activist movement in the U.S.
- An excellent verbal and written command of English and strong editing skills
- Experience with coordinating speakers for events would be a great plus
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, iMovie, Photoshop, HTML, and Adobe Creative Suite is highly desirable
- Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills
- Well-organized, self-motivated, and reliable
