Genocide Intervention Network (GI-NET) is changing the way the United States and the international community responds to the world's worst crimes by empowering individuals and communities with the tools to prevent and stop genocide. GI-NET's aim is to build the first permanent anti-genocide constituency.

GI-Net is recruiting a network of anti-genocide activists who educate their communities, pressure their elected officials, and fundraise directly for civilian protection. Currently the organization's work is focused on ending the ongoing genocide in Darfur, Sudan.

GI-Net is currently seeking a highly motivated professional to direct and manage its economic advocacy programs.

Summary of Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Graduate level degree preferred.
• 6 months minimum experience with government-related employment helpful
• 6 months minimum experience with economic advocacy or investment helpful
• Must be a self-motivated professional able to work effectively independently and as a team
• Ability to manage time and multiple assignments within assigned deadlines
• Strong written and analytical skills, combined with attention to detail
• Must have a specific interest in preventing and stopping genocide across the world

Summary of Job Description:

The Assistant Director for Advocacy oversees and manages economic advocacy programs within the advocacy department. GI-Net's economic advocacy program includes comprehensive research on companies operating in areas of concern for GI-Net; the development of engagement principles (corporate social responsibility recommendations) for those companies; and the coordination of a coalition of investors to engage with those companies.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Management and oversight of economic advocacy staff, interns and volunteers; and development of budget projections for economic advocacy activities;
• Leadership of economic advocacy, policy and research projects. This includes drafting of economic policy papers; and development of economic advocacy strategy to be utilized for legislation and engagement principles for targeted companies; and
• Coordination with GI-Net management. This includes providing updates to the GI-Net Management group and the Board of Directors; development of economic advocacy sections of grant applications; and building shareholder coalitions in order to engage targeted companies.
