The Genocide Intervention Network (GI-Net) is changing the way the United States and the international community respond to the world's worst crimes by empowering individuals and communities with the tools to prevent and stop genocide. GI-Net's aim is to build the first permanent anti-genocide constituency.
GI-Net is recruiting a network of anti-genocide activists who educate their communities, pressure their elected officials, and fundraise directly for civilian protection. Currently the organization's work is focused on ending the ongoing genocide in Darfur, Sudan.
GI-Net seeks a dynamic individual to manage multiple functions with the student division of GI-Net,known as STAND.
Summary of Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Minimum of 1 year grassroots organizing experience on a national level preferred
- At least 2 years experience working with students in a leadership capacity desirable
- Ability to facilitate communication between multiple parties in a diplomatic, efficient way
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills
- Basic level knowledge of HTML
Summary of Job Description
The STAND Associate is responsible for the following:
- Managing and evaluating STAND's Outreach Division, which includes 2 National Coordinators, 12 Regional Coordinators, and 25 State Coordinators, as well as an International Division
- Managing STAND's technology (including website, social networking sites, blogs, podcasts, and Basecamp)
- Providing strategic guidance and logistical support on initiatives and programs, including National and Regional Conferences, DarfurFast, and the Powertools program
- Editing and creating materials, including copy-editing outgoing materials (online and physical), coordinating between Materials Coordinator and Programming Coordinators on creating and ordering merchandise, creating promotional materials, creating and commissioning STAND videos and PSAs
- Providing strategic guidance and logistical support on STAND's overall strategy, including OTD (Other Than Darfur) debates and research, and long-term membership and advocacy strategies
- Coordinating between taskforces with GI-Net on grassroots member initiatives, divestment, technology, and communications
