The Genocide Intervention Network (GI-Net) is changing the way the United States and the international community respond to the world's worst crimes by empowering individuals and communities with the tools to prevent and stop genocide. GI-Net's aim is to build the first permanent anti-genocide constituency.
GI-NET is recruiting a network of anti-genocide activists who educate their communities, pressure their elected officials, and fundraise directly for civilian protection. Currently the organization’s work is focused on ending the ongoing genocide in Darfur, Sudan.
GI-NET seeks to fill two Membership Associate positions. Successful candidates will be highly motivated professionals with organizing experience that will serve to support the growth of GI-NET's membership and volunteer network. The Membership Associates will report to the Membership Director. The ideal candidates will have a deep commitment to ending genocide.
All employees of GI-Net must be committed, self-motivated professionals, with the ability to work effectively independently and in a team oriented environment.
Summary of Qualifications
Candidate should also have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 1 year experience in grassroots mobilizing
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Job Description
The Membership Associate is the public face of GI-Net to its members, ensuring that members are aware of and have access to GI-Net's advocacy, educational and fundraising tools. Job duties include:
- Convert technical policy points, legislation and news into straightforward language and tangible actions for members. Promote this information to members directly via email and phone communication, and en masse via bi-weekly newsletters and regular e-action alerts
- Plan, coordinate and implement national and local grassroots advocacy campaigns, including the current Ask the Candidates campaign which is engaging presidential candidates on Darfur.
- Assist Membership Director with implementation of GI-Net's national constituency-building strategy
- Maintain relationships with partner organizations, and build relationships with Darfur activists across the country.
- Update and maintain membership portions of GI-Net website and campaign related websites
- Manage membership intern(s)
- Manage member database

Low to mid $30's
