"Light the Way for China": Olympic Torch Relay and Rally

Join Dream for Darfur and the Whisper Campaign at their "Light the Way for China" Torch Relay in Lansing, Michigan.

China is hosting the 2008 Summer Olympics while at the same time, heavily investing in the country of Sudan.  You can help bring the Olympic Dream to Darfur by attending "Light the Way for China". This event is an important opportunity to pressure China to take immediate and urgent action to help end the genocide in Darfur.

ABOUT THE EVENT:

Runners from Detroit, Jackson and Grand Rapids will run a 5K relay that will converge on the Capitol steps in Lansing.  Each runner will carry a lit torch to pass to the next runner, and a cauldron will be lit upon their arrival.  At the end of the evening, a candle light vigil will be held for the people of Darfur.
 
Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and Adam Sterling, the Director of the Sudan Divestment Task Force will each be speaking.  Trevor Menear from the Instant Karma CD will also be performing.

Hot chocolate, apple cider, hot dogs and other refreshments will be available!
